Goodbye Uruguay
I will never forget the country that gave me so much, nor will I forget the people that taught me life lessons that should have taken a lifetime. Uruguay, thank you, you will forever live in my heart. From language to culture I have completely fallen in love. With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart, I have set my sights on the future.
Uruguay te amo, nunca voy a olvidarte, los memorias viviran siempre en mi corazón.
Ok, ok… This is where I actually worked. Its the annex and its not nearly as cool. I did however get to cross, though a super cool underground tunnel, over to the ‘palacio’ once or twice a week for meetings.
Chorizo y pan!
Meat-sicle, you know like a popsicle but meaty… While walking down any street in Montevideo a curious stroller, like myself, is able to view crowded rows of sausages hanging in the windows of local markets. As inviting as a bakery window, you are lured to peer in and see the varying sizes, colors and styles of sausages. Colonia Seco Rausco happens to be my recent meaty indulgence of choice. Sweets they are not (my other vice), but they are equally addicting! Upon approaching these meat-sicles one is overtaken by their powerful aroma; rich and salty, smelling almost smoky. The little guys have a way of forcing you to close your eyes and take a deep breath, call out an order for “tres” two more than you really need.
